Thanks Dutch, it was a fun project. The contest is annual so I have to come up with something new by about the middle of March. Whatever I build gets sent down the ski hill and off the jump for ariel competition. The moose flipped 5 times when he hit the ground and his lower legs snapped off. I fixed him up and now he's lit up on the roof of the shop. I got paid to build him, and won A LOT of beer.
I've considered a works style segmented pipe, but my bike is too old for the hassle and it would take me too long ever be able to build one for anyone else, too bad, it would be a fun project, maybe for my 500 when it works out... If a guy could find fab specs somewhere...... I've repaired many pipes though. If the expansion chamber is crushed beyond other methods of repair, I'll cut it apart, pound it back into shape and reweld. I can make most look pretty nice, nothing I can do to save a plated finish though. Sometimes on older machines a new pipe can be hard to find. I fix pipes for riders, not the pick-up truck princesses that are just for looks around town. :-D

--- Quote from: Johnniespeed on January 16, 2009, 04:05:16 AM ---Today I am going to look for a job, I previously was employed as a mechanic at a new car dealership. Last night I was suddenly dismissed without explanation after eighteen years there. The only thing said was the company was making changes. The economy is not so good here in Michigan, but I always thought I was safe, due to skill level, work quality, productivity and seniority.
I will post again when I know what I do for a living.
