Next plan is to get the rod kit and crank done then I can put the cases to together and with any luck my cylinder will turn up.

Yes it is quit satisfying rebuilding a bike, I have just had alot of trouble with 2nd hand parts, the seller says its good but when I get it its junk, like the clutch basket I just got, not only is it rooted its for an 1987
SOHC:
Dose a 162 main jet and a 55 pilot jet sound like an ok place to start? I am in the south pacific.
The bike came with 2 old pistons and both had score marks on the front and back, needle was on the 2nd to bottom clip, but the guy had been putting new pistons in the bike with out removing the head and there was baked on carbon on the cylinder walls round all the ports.
I am going to have some stickers made for the bike from an 80s KX, I will get them resized to fit.
