New Dude on the Site!
« on: February 09, 2011, 09:23:19 AM »
I have been riding dirtbikes for 39 of my 43 years of life and I have owned a KX 500 since 89.  I am the original owner of a 95 500 that is actually in really good shape, but I was injured 4 years ago and it has been sitting ever since.  I am now getting back in to the ball game and have been debating on what I should do with the 500.  With the exception of a FMF low boy pipe and the low boy 3 plus gallon tank that goes with it, it is stock.  This particular 500 has only ever been used as a play/trail bike and has never been beat up.

I'm trying to decide if I should have the motor freshened up and who I should have do it.  Does anyone know of a reputable person/company in Southern California that still works on the 500's?  I am right down the street from Pro Circuit, but they don't seem all that anxious about it over the phone.  Any help would be appreciated.

Another option I am considering is selling the 500 (having a busted hip and femur with rods all through them has me thinking about a nice trailer bike.  lol's).  Even if the 500 doesn't get used all the time and I end up getting a trailer bike, I still would like to have it freshened up for the occasional ride.

Hey Bandit,
 Welcome to the site,
There are a few builder/ Machinist guys here who can install a compression release and do wonders for kickin' the old gal over.  If starting the thing is going to be a problem, check them out and some of their happy customers.

I have to have both hips replaced in the near future and need to have the release installed myself.
Either way you decide to go, Glad to have you with us.
