I plan on pulling my bike apart this winter in between ice racing and ice fishing. I'm hoping "SANTA" will be generous and pick up some parts for me. I was going to have my forks rebuilt but decided to swap them out for newer ones. I need help finding out what year bike to get them from. Thanks for the replys guys. Bob.

I am running a complete 89 front end on my bike and it helped alot. In 89 they went to cartridge style forks and not damping rod. I kept the same look as 87 500 but have better froks.

As far as the forks, you can use any KX year you want, how much money and effort do you want to expend? I put a set of 04-250f forks on my KX 500 2000, I used the triple clamps from the 250f, and the steering stem from the k5 and had to make a bushing for the top clamp. Then I said what the heck and put the motor into the 250f chassis.

When I change to 89-91 forks, is it a simple swap or will I need other parts? I would like to just unbolt mine and bolt the new ones in.
