Well, first of all the 89 forks are right side ups, and 90 and newer are upside down. to use 89 forks you will need the triple clamps as well, the 89 forks had larger tubes. If I was going to go to the trouble, I would get newer forks, bear in mind the technology gets better as time moves forward. but then thats just my .02
