I bought my bike new, Its always been well taken care off, I have been off from riding for a good number of years other than a spin around the farm, looking to get back into this year as much as I can finally or time-wise. Figured, I have to do something for me now. I don't know when I did last top end or how many hours on last piston change. Figured I would change all the fluids, clean carb, clean and grease all bearings, take compression, reading. Now with that out of the way, I have 150 psi for compression, (snap on gauge) wide-open throttle -kicked for a few.
Compression is good I believe at 150. My question is: tear it down , inspect cylinder, connecting rod, clean carb, replace piston/ring anyway, clean power valves or Just skip top end and do rest?
This bike has always been good to me I believe because I have well maintained it. I am leaning toward doing a top-end. Financially I am thinking of not doing it because I need tires , tubes, kick starter , kick starter shaft, clutch cable, front and rear pads, rear rotor, chain , sprockets, plastics.
I probably answered my own question and should just bite the bullet and do it. Figured I needed a push lol
