05 KX250 no spark??
« on: May 11, 2019, 12:10:07 AM »
Hey all!  I’m new here to the forum and after searching I didn’t see what I was looking for.  So I apologize if this has been covered somewhere.  So as stated I have no spark. We are getting readings to the coil, but no spark on the plug.  We’ve checked the harness for continuity on all wires and all wires are showing good.  The pick up on the stator is showing proper reading.  The only thing we have come across so far that is a little off is the reading for the igniter wire off the stator.  Is it possible that could cause us to still get a reading on the ignition coil, but not enough to generate spark?  I obviously want to make the smartest move on buying the next part because stators aren’t necessarily cheap and the CDI box sure as hell isn't either.  That brings me to my next question... if the CDI box was bad would I even be getting a reading on the coil?

make sure you check connection between plug cap and coil wire , before moving on.

We’ve checked that as well and it’s good

find another 05 and ask them to swap parts to find the problem and do it while there , we had a ktm bike shop come to us with a 06 kx 250 , found out it was the stator. cdi boxes rarely give trouble.

Would it be possible to fry the CDI box if the previous owner put In a faulty stator?  He had some parts in box and there was a hacked up stator in there.  Looked like he may have tried to something with it in his attempt to fix it before he sold it.  I’m leaning towards it being the stator that is still the problem
