Motion Pro Deluxe Suspension Bearing Tools - will it fit?
« on: October 15, 2018, 09:52:46 AM »
Hello,

I'm new to the board and am in the process of rebuilding a 2000 KX250.  I've pressed out all of my rear suspension bearings with a vice and sockets as they were all trashed but I was looking for a more precise way to reinstall the new stuff.  Rocky Mountain and even motion pro can't tell me if the tool will fit my year KX.  has anyone used this tool that can verify it fits the swing arm and linkage pieces?  They say it's designed for 20-22mm I.D. bearings.  Anyone have the I.D. size of the KX bearings??  Thanks for any help.  If there is a better tool to use, please mention it!

Yes, that tool should work great.

I used the motion pro swingarm bearing tool which is the same ID between 20 and 22 on my 1999 KX250 build. Worked great to install the bearings for the swingarm. The linkage bearings were surprisingly good so didnt replace those, just re-greased them.

I didnt spring for the deluxe tool as that was way more than the motion pro swingarm tool (25 bucks)

Good to know.  I think I’m gonna order it then.  Thanks for the response

Good luck on the rebuild...post some pics along the way!

only things left for mine are the graphics and the skid plate. Skid didnt really look good in bare aluminum so powdering that to match the swingarm...graphics are being done by a friend of mine so hoping to have those in a week or two

Just out of curiosity, what colors did you do on the frame and swing arm?  I’m trying to decide on colors myself.  I think I want to go with all black for the frame and swing arm with Kawi green accent pieces.  Then all green plastics.  Still not sure tho.

I went with a 70% gloss gunmetal gray for the frame and did a 50% gloss black on the swingarm. plastics are black. doing the skid plate in 50% gloss black to match the swingarm.

i've got a 1999 build thread you can look through to see how things have turned out so far...as mentioned, just waiting on the skid and the graphics to be done.

Went with gloss black powder coat on frame and semi polish on the swingarm.
