Any Texas Riders?
« on: April 10, 2014, 12:00:04 PM »
Hey all, singing up as I plan on buying a 2000 5 hunnid tomorrow.
Had a KX80 as a kid and own a WR right now, but I'm hyped to hop back on the two banger train.

Any of you guys ride out here? I'm located in San Antonio currently but am new to the area and always looking for riding buddies and new locations.

My plans are to get the beast plated and eventually do a supermoto conversion, but I'm a dirt rider at heart and am in no rush to put those slicks on it.

Anyway, what's up?!

Waiting for pics so we can gawk  :-D
I'm about 2200 miles north west of you so no after work rides for us...
But I know we have some Texas riders on the site so who knows..
Welcome to the site and post often.

Welcome aboard  crux!
I lived in Dallas-Fort Worth back in 96 for a short time...never got to do any riding out there, but there were tons of places.
Excuse me, ma'am...but you've got extremely nice legs!!!...what time do they open???                                                                                                               https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8tCgN3aryQ

Well guys, picked her up today! Got a short little spritz in tonight post-sunset after my initial test ride and I'm completely blown away by the amount of power this thing has... Not that I wasn't expecting it, I just had no idea what that'd feel like between my legs. It's ridiculous. On my WR I'd have to preload the suspension AND jerk on the bars to get it to stand up, this beast just wants to flip itself right over with even the slightest flick of the wrist.
On the grass it's just out of this world and incomparable to anything I've ridden. My one gripe is the rear brake though. It's going to take me some getting used to and a lot of throttle compensation to be able to stop where/when I want to.

I'm definitely going to upgrade to an aluminum frame soon though, I see them going for sub-$250 on eBay and swapping it out is no issue at all.

But I love it! Can't wait to get out and do some proper riding tomorrow, and will probably take it to the dunes next weekend with the paddles I got with it. I'm hyped and honored to join the big bore club. :D
