ode to the k5 rider
« on: April 11, 2014, 11:00:19 PM »
Well boys I sold the crazy k5 today. I owned it for 2 year and only rode it maybe 6 times. It was fun in some ways but at the end of the experience im going to have to join the side of the nay sayers...to much funkin power! I realized that that bike was probably going to claim my life someday. Infact it almost claimed my life in front of the guy that bought it on my helmetless goodbye dry pavement send off wheely. I feel a little bad about selling it, its like selling someone a loaded handgun that shoots in circles. If anything happens to that guy ill have to live with myself and lay the blame completely on the engineers at kawasaki. So with this the end of my 500ing days I say this, you guys are a true breed on belligerent horse power hungry crazy people and for that you have my undying respect. I always thought that being a fighter pilot would be the most all out thing you could do sitting down. This experience has proved that theory quite wrong. Dont get me wrong if I could go back I wouldnt change a thing. Well maybe a big bore kit and some nitros , wait no what am I thinking...just...no!

Should have done what I am doing. Bike ate my lunch last year on the dirt so I am putting it on the street!   My reactions are enough slower and have lost enough skill, I'll be 60 this year  :-(, that it was in my best interest to either sell it or change it up. Right leg has been giving me fits so we will see how starting it goes...
Best of luck and Stay in touch. The urge always comes back. This is my third KX5.  :-D

Hey brute.. get a compression release on it.
My first knee surgery was a little over 30 years ago.
I can start my k5 without it but it is sure a lot easier with it

To climber05:
Sorry to hear but it's a simple fact that the K5 isn't for everyone.
That's why they make bikes of all sizes and configurations  8-)

The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.

Already done.  :-)  Only reason I have not sold it already. Thanks again Larry! Knee's are Ok so far. Might have to try starting with the left leg. We will see...  :|
My other dirt bike is a 2001 TW200 I bought new. Just put a 70 tooth rear on it for s-l-o-w going. Climber, you going to ride still I hope?

haha...the 500 bug is deeply embedded in you, there's no denying it, and there's no walking away from it....you'll get another one sooner than later.
Excuse me, ma'am...but you've got extremely nice legs!!!...what time do they open???                                                                                                               https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8tCgN3aryQ
