 KTM,
Glad to hear she's firing up like it should.  Personally, first start of the day (cold) I pull the choke and cycle the piston around two or three slow times and then get the kicker as high in the stroke as possible at TDC or Just after.   Then jump on it one good whack.   The biggest help with me has been starting the bike while it's still tied down in the truck or using a 5gal. bucket to stand on while starting the bike cold.  Not having to worry about the whole Mary-Ann falling over lets you get alot more oompf in the kick when the bike is cold.

When it's warm I just get the kicker as High as possible (again TDC or just after) and then jump on it.
  Enjoy!
