My crappy worn out 89' KX500
HonsRacing:
Hey Kawdude, thanks. I have a question for ya. Do you know how much it would cost to have the crank trued and the bearings replaced? An estimate is cool. I have about $800 saved up to fix everything on the bike. Thanks again man.

Send it to forward motion (http://www.eric-gorr.com/). I sent my crank there and it cost about 120 for the truing and it made a world of difference. That is the cheapest cost I've found but there may be others. Gore is very well known in the industry though. They can do the bearings also but I did it myself so I'm not sure what the cost is. Gowen may know??? He had some lower end work done there. If you chose to dIY buy the bearings from this joint...http://www.honda-kawasaki.com/ . This is cheapest OEM parts place I've found. It's slow because they order the part rec'v it and then ship to me but the cost is excellent compared to my local dealers. Some parts i've priced there are half the cost!!!

wow thanks man. Good deal. Appreciate all the help. Maybe ill post some pictures when i get it all done.

I sent off my entire engine there, including a crank costed me roughly $1020. That was for a 520cc top-end porting, complete lower end rebuilding + new crank and hot rods ect. ect. Also some welding. Because you do not need a new crank (mine had rusted and pitted from being under water) it will be $700-$800! Including the top-end.
Looking at my bill here is the cost for the lower-end parts and labor NOT including the crank:
Engine Rebuilding with Crank Works (Truing) - $175 ** Labor
Moose Racing Main Bearings and Seals + Hot Rod Kit - $150 * Parts
Oem Tranny Bearings and Seals - $75 * Parts
I'm happy, you will ALWAYS have vibes with a 500, but I've found that pro tapers and solid mounts are the key to that!
Kawdude is right on! 8)
