Nevada KX500AF
« on: July 26, 2010, 04:01:52 PM »
Not the most exciting videos. I had a high speed get off a couple of months ago and destroyed my VholdR helmet cam. The main injuries where two broken ribs and a punctured lung. I was back on my smaller bikes after a month and just now got back on my 500AF. These videos are mainly a test run of my new camera.

Looks like a nice day of riding. Which camara are you using. Seems to be very nice quality.

VholdR Contour 1080P. Those vids were 1080P at 30fps. I'm going to try 720p at 60 fps for the next ones. I think the higher frame rate may be better for action videos even though it's lower HD resolution.

Thanks Friar-Tuck!

I had my riding partner Rob who got my truck to within about 1/4 mile. I only had two choices... helicopter ride or walk out of the desert a 1/4 mile. Took me about 45 minutes to walk out and get to the truck on one lung. Spent one day in the ER and four days at a trauma ward in another hospital. Slept in my recliner at home for about two weeks. Was I glad when I could finally get back in bed!

Broke a rule I have about following to close in the dust trail trying to get some video. Flying blind about 45-50 mph when I clipped a fallen Joshua tree on the edge of the trail. As fast as I was going I think I got off easy! I was back on my RMZ450 within a month but just got back on the KX500AF a couple of weekends ago.

Shoulder is still loose and snaps and pops a little but overall I have healed up pretty well.

Thanks again Friar!

Beautiful riding area. Looks like a different planet compared to where I ride. Areas like that here will destroy a tire in an afternoon of riding.  :-D Very cool videos. I notice alot of wind noise, does your camera have a way to minimize that? The new hd gopro eliminates wind sound. I have seen guys tape the mic off to help. Very cool. Chasing someone really helps show speeds and terrain contours better. I also know its waaaaay more rough than it appears, and you are going twice as fast as it may look. Really neat. I could watch vidoes like that all day, if I didn't need to get so many things done around here. Is that a Stewart motor or Service Honda or what? Sounds pretty familiar...

Oy!
Got to hand it to you Bro... You are one tough Trooper...  More Like Rooster Cogburn than KX Pegger! :-D
Like HC#42 , Every time I start watching you all's vids I want to get out and burn some Pre-Mix!
I hope the other guys appreciate what it takes to get the equipment, set it all up, and then edit and post.  Heck I rarely even take a camera let alone a recorder, (Well the kids broke the last one) and then have a fit just trying to get pictures posted!
   Oh Well,

On average about 5 rides on a rear and if I want to burn it down to the carcass 7 or 8! The Contour has a gain setting for the audio through software. I have it maxed out right now...maybe I need to turn it down some? In the last video I was up and down in 4th and 5th mostly between 1/2 and 3/4 throttle trying not to get wadded up in Rob's dust trail and start flying blind again. I've got 14/47 gearing so I figure we're visiting 70 MPH+. You're right that the video camera does not translate to the viewer. We were moving along pretty good and the camera makes it look like a freeway and that wash is anything but! Stock Service Honda 2004 motor.
