my younger brothers 11 and i want to get him into the sport. ive been looking at kx100s, i want something he can grow into a bit but ive never ridden one. i was wondering if any of you could give me some insight, the kids not  too big he probably weighs 70 pounds. any thoughts would be appreciated, other bikes that would be good, etc. thanks alot.

KXcam22:
The KX100 is a wonderful beginners bike. Yes it is a bit fast but you will find that your brother gets used to the power fairly quickly.  There are lots of cheap ways to detune it for him to learn on then you can uncork it once he gets accustomed to it.  Closing the reed stops or putting a home built reducer in the silencer end will both helps.  Cam.

ericac:
cool man, im really excited to get one and introduce him to the sport, and to do it on a green machine  8-). thanks for the info cam, that detuning stuff may come in handy.

yeah your bro will love it. im 15 and i have an 05' kx100! stock is good for a beginner, but once you start putting money into it, it will haul!
