KXF Wheels On a KX
sandblaster:
The one in these pics was a dual piston set up.
Didn't net me any real gains and weighs more.
I just wanted to show you the possibilities.
I have a swingarm I have modified for a 450 rear wheel axle and rear brake mount and caliper.
I may or may not do the cooling fins.
To be honest, I don't need it.
I do not ride like Sean Collier does :-o Few do... :-D
He was melting down the stock caliper and pads in just a few laps because he trail brakes... A LOT!!!!
So, I made him that special caliper so we would never have to worry about it again.
So far, so good.
If you wanted to drill a hole in the top of your caliper to let some air through directly to the pads that would work just fine for most aggressive riders. The only issue is if you ride in a lot of mud.
If so, leave it alone as the stock caliper had more then enough stopping power especially when combined with the 450 rear brake rotor size.

I should have asked and not just assumed  was that a 10mm slice of alloy you added and was it just a matter of following the same angle that was used on the standard calliper mount to line it up with the disc in the correct position? Thanks in advance
I am trying to piece things together now, got a lazy boy head on its way to Larry for the de compression mod + all sorts on order, I will be ordering a second calliper mount for modding as will run the standard wheels as spares (Y)

Hi sandblaster, I purchased a low use 2018 KXF 250 rear calliper and mount thinking it would be a valid upgrade being 28 years younger?? I got it cheap so not a problem if not worth adding to my bike, I can sell on and hold out for a dual piston one if that is the best way to go?
I assume your one was a late 450 one? Thanks
