What's up
netranger6:
New guy to the board, picking up a 2003 500 in great shape, with title. Live 2 hours South of Houston, and bike is coming from Wyoming. Gonna rejet. Having my Kawi guy do it, any suggestions? Basically it's coming jetted at 5000 feet or so, and I am sea level. Also, he ran BelRay as a pre mix, just wondering what is the best all around oil. Bike has Gnarly Desert on it and Boyesen Rad valve. Man, so many questions. Coming with extra sprockets and chain, new tires and old tires, and extra wheel with a d**n near new paddle on it. Top and bottom have been done in last few years, with low use. I'm pretty stoked, as I've been without a bike for a while, sold me 12' 450F.

Welcome aboard!
Jetting will depend on the porting and overall engine condition.
Good stock running engine at sea level with a aftermarket pipe and a clean air filter.
91 pump gas at 40:1
P55
M168
Stock needle, 3rd position
Air screw 1.5-2 turns out.
That is a starting point.
Throttle chops will confirm jetting at top end.
For premix oil I like Motul 800 at 50:1
Others have their preferences...
netranger6:
Yeah, I need input on that pre mix because once I get it, it's going for a tune. Been out of the 2 stroke game for a long time, so feel like a newb . Research tells me Asmoil, Maxima, and Motul. Expense isn't an issue. Plan on running pump 93. Or pure fuel if I can find it. What about adding fuel treatment for ethanol?
sandblaster:
I've never used additives so your on your own there unless someone else has experience.
I use what we call Clear Gas 92.. non Ethanol.
There are many many good oils out there.
A lot of top guys including Alward25 use Amsoil Dominator.
Once my stash of Motul 800 runs out I'm gonna give it a whirl.
As far as the mix ratio, listen to what the manufacture says..
No... you don't need to run 32:1 any more :-)

Love the redline oil, especially the smell!!! 😷
