djcheez:
i run redline on all my bikes including my drag bike. 50:1 and no problems or build up

DrMojo:
Question, I noted a bunch of you guys run 40:1 and even 50:1.  I noted that Kawasaki recommends 32:1 as the ratio.  Will 32:1 cause problems?  I figure more oil in the gas will protect the top-end better. :?:

Paul:
The oil in the gas is for the bottom end AND the top end. With todays semi-synthetics and full synthetics the shear strength of the oil os what is protecting the engine. I run mine at 40:1 and have had no problems. That 32:1 will offer a better chance of fouling that plug that either 40 or 50 to 1. I remember when the recommended was 20:1

More oil = more protection BUT it will also foul plugs and require more frequent silencer packing changes as well as loading that big 5'er up if your running slow trails.

djcheez:
yup, with good oil, you can run a leaner mixture. redline actually says you can run it at 100:1, but i dont think i'll do that. i know of guys running 60:1 and 80:1 with no problem.

yzmike:
Wow! What great conversation! You guys are in warp speed, light years ahead of the usual swamp rats. The undeniable truth about oils is , any organic oil is as dead as the dinosaur! Yamaha, honda, etc.recomends a ratio assuming you are using thier oil, however the after market does only one thing, improve lubrication. But you get what you pay for. I for one would never use less than the best,an ounce of prevention, etc!! Yeah, I miss the smell of castor, but I am told that Klotz, and Amsoil, have a delightful odor, maybe Redline also. And the protection quality is such that the ratio is 50 to 1.
