New From Arizona Custom Quads Hobbiest
« on: April 19, 2005, 05:41:44 PM »
Hi, just thought I'd introduce myself.  Rick, from arizona.  I currently am building a banshee kx500 banshee, which has a 550 big bore kit, full drag porting, FTZ alky carb and drag pipe, E-line coil and 12" air filter.  My finished projects are my wife's Honda 465EX big bore stroker bike and my yamaha banshee mid engine drag quad with a 165 HP r1 powerplant out of an 03 fuel injected bike.  It has a variety of custom parts including a few from harley davidson.  It runs a programable ignition, auto air shifter, barnett sr3 spring conversion kit with the stiffer springs, kn clamp ons, Micron Exhaust, and has a full speedo guage and onboard air compressor.

Yes I've got some and will try to put them up today sometime.  The kx bike is still a work in progress, so she's not real pretty right now, but I will add photos as more work is done.   Keep an eye out for a gallery listing under RicksTricks.  Thank you all for welcoming me to the site.

 Those are some awesome quads. Good job on the custom work! Curious, what benefit does the E-Line have on the KX?

It allows you to run more powerful headlights.  This unit puts out 100 watts to two seperate lights for a total of 200watts of lighting power.

Be careful guys, You are going to make me think you like quads!

Rick, some of the guys give me a hard time for having a couple of quads! They are all kawies anyway, I am true blue  to kawie even if one is red!

When I ride with the guys, I usually ride my KX and when I ride with my wife I usually ride V Force!

I would love to see that KX Powered Quad run!

No Spark on the KX
« Reply #12 on: April 25, 2005, 05:12:56 PM »
Still working on getting the kx running.  Can't get a spark out of her right now.  The plug wire was damaged, but I don't think that is the whole problem.  I've checked some of you guys back forums in troubleshooting and found a helpful bit, so I'm going to go threw the ignition system and see what comes up.  I'll keep you posted on the progress.

I did get the kx bike running this past week and let me tell you it is not lacking power in the slightest.  I had to pull start it to get it going, but once she fired up she growled like a tiger.  I've got a +10 swingarm on the bike and it pulled straight up in second gear and almost threw me off.  I had no idea the motor would produce that kind of power.  I've decided to go ahead and put it back to gas, rather than the alky.  I think it will have plenty of power without it.  Now I can start working on the cosmetic side of the bike.  I'm planning to go with a kawasaki flourescent green frame with blue add ons.   If anyone knows of a company that makes an aftermarket head for the 500, please let me know.  I've tried everyone I know, but none of them make a head for the 500, only the smaller bikes.  I'll post some new pics as the bike progresses.
