Just wanted to say hello and I am looking at a 2004 KX500 tomorrow with the hopes of buying it and I want to do a ton of mods to it and this site (lurked a while) sure seems to have the right kind of people to get the job done.

I'm not new to the K5 I had a new 88 and a new 02 but women got in the way of all the fun and I got rid of them just like I got rid of the women shortly after :)

I was a MPI for 6 years in the army and rode intermediate class when I was young enough to crash and walk away from it but I'm back at it again nyuk nyuk nyuk.

Well it was hard to not buy the bike due to the fever but it was in really bad shape with cracked frame under the tank which I wouldn't have even thought to look but read about it on here it just wouldn't have crossed my mind to look.

Radiator mount cracked, exhaust bracket to frame broken off, oil leaking from front fork seals, chain worn completely out I don't know how it is staying on the bike, clutch was toast, filthy filthy bike, engine was on it's last leg and it was jetted all wrong but I could kick it over with my hand and having 2 other K5s that is not even close to good compression.

Well I am in the market for a clean 500 if anyone has one in the michigan, ohio, indiana area.

Thanks for the welcome and look forward to joining in on the fun soon :)

Ok guys I'm back at it and think I found the right bike so I go look at it tomorrow and will post plenty of pics if I get it then let the spending begin since I never could say no to a good aftermarket part or upgrade.

I found my bike :) and it will be delivered saturday it's a 2002 KX500 with a baja enduro kit on it street legal with fender mod and gnarly pipe 2 silencers one is forestry approved and the other is the 304 also comes with a brand new rear fender still wrapped up and new number plates all the way around it's immaculate not even a scratch on the subframe from the chain has headlight and horn with front turn signals and tail light but the rear turn signals are not on it but came with the bike since it doesn't need rear turn signals to be street legal I'm leaving them off.

The rear tail light has a brake light and plate holder that actually looks good on the bike which I never thought would happen but it's low profile and flows with the 250 fender.

I will take pics when it arrives on saturday and I never thought I would want the enduro kit on my K5 but my wife made a good point when she said that even though we live on a dirt road in a farming community it's still illegal to ride on the roads and my buddy tim found out the hard way on his cr500 when he got a $250 ticket when some monster called the state police on us for riding the dirt roads lol.

It was kind of funny to see tim flying down my road throwing a 25' rooster of rocks and the state cop right in the roost with the headlights broken out of the car and the red bubble was cracked lol we pointed beind him and he looked back then looked like someone shot him lol the cop never hit his siren just his lights were on so tim had no idea he was there.

I didn't think I could find a K5 in this good of shape and this many extras for under 3k but I got lucky with the owner being 50+ and never raced or even beat on the bike so a few scratches from putting the bike on a stand is the only marks on the bike not a grain of dirt or oil anywhere so I feel like I was a winner on this one.
