New Member from Western Australia
« on: March 07, 2011, 10:04:55 PM »
G'Day,

I am a new member and came across this site whilst doing some research for my new project.

My project is to drop a KX500 monster donk into my current 2007 KX250F. I love my current bike but I love 2 strokes more and so I figured make the best of both worlds with the ergonomics of the KX250F and the power of the KX500.

I found some good info on the site and more so a passion from the members for the KX500, good to see. I reside in a place called Kalgoorlie in Western Australia which is a gold mining town surround by miles and miles of bush and a wealth of track for bikes and quads. I would reckon every fourth person in this town would either own a bike, a quad or both. There is no shortage of tracks and people to go riding with.

I look forward to some feedback from the sites members once I get my project started, just trying to source the engine and then let the fun begin.

Perfect project.
I am working on exactly the same year and make.
There are several others on here that have already done it and make it really easy.
Post your progress.
The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.

Firstly thank you to all of you for your responses and warm welcomes.

A quick update on the project, today I completed the removal of the 4 stroke engine from the bike, which will now get posted on eBay for sale with the electrics, exhaust and associated parts as a package deal. I have also got the frame stripped down to just the foot pegs and triple clamps remaining on the frame. I will remove these on my next break and then give the frame a good clean. I am still contemplating whether or not to powder coat the frame and swing arm black, gloss or matt?

I would like to extend a very big thank you to "sandblaster" for the information and advice he has passed on in regards to the project.
