cross referencing part numbers.
jonny500:
if you look at kwak part numbers they are different because the ring gear on the back is different between the 250 and 500. the kwak basket comes complete. the actual basket is the same. so when you buy an after market basket with no ring gear they sell it as kx 500 88-04 and kx 250 90-91 and you use your old ring gear. hope that helps

If you followed the directs carefully you should see the following.
Click on "Fits Machines"
You should now see a list of all the bikes that basket fits.
That all being said, at times a different part number will also fit but typically there are some differences.

i would say thats pretty clear sandblaster lol. just 1 more thing tunster. you could buy that 91 kx 250 clutch and put the 500 gear on it, but you will have to drill and re rivet which is a pain and tuff to get right. be my advise is not to skimp on clutches with these 500s as they take some hammer as you saw with the last clutch in your bike. buy a new after market basket, rubbers, plates/spring and center bearing. it will pay in the long run
tunster:
Johnny i think your right sound advise.Sandblaster thanks for the info,i will give it another try.
