fitting wheels from a kxf.
tunster:
Is it possible to fit a set of wheels from a kxf to k5? What would it involve? Is it a case of just changing the wheel bearings or could it be done by having a new spindle made? Would they be compatible with the original brake systems?
sandblaster:
Anything is possible with enough time and money.
Just my humble opinion but I would sell the set you have and then buy what you need.
You could save yourself a bundle. :|
cbmoor:
I know the front wheels fit kx5 with the last fork change they did, but not sure of the year i think it is 97 on but the back wheel on the kxf has a bigger dia wheel spindle and not sure if changing the bearing to suit the kx5 spindle would it fit. Not sure how close the hubs are.
alward25:
Warp 9 makes rear wheel spacer adapters that allow you to use the KXF hubs on
the K5. The rear rotors are a different diameter, the kxf are a little bigger but the bolt pattern is the same. The fronts are a direct swap.
sandblaster:
Just a thought, you never said what year of 450 or 500 you were wanting to swap.
KX500's use a 20MM rear axle.
The outside of bearing to the outside of the bearing is 130MM from 1989-2004
The front axle is 20MM from 1994-2004.
The outside of bearing to the outside of the bearing is 89.5MM.
I don't have a lot of info on the newer 450 and 250F but this is what I do have.
Front wheel bearings:
KAWASAKI KX250F 04-10 20MM
KAWASAKI KX450F 06-10 20MM
Rear wheel hub: 25MM bearing and the outside to outside of the bearings 133.5MM 04-06 KX250F and KX450F
Hope this helps
