Hello there
My name is Rick and I live in Rosemount,MN. My 14 year old son bought a '96 kx125 a few months ago and I inherited the job as chief mechanic, which since this is a unpaid position I also assumed the title of chief test rider grin. Found this site to be very helpful in fulfilling my first title so I could try out my second. Thank you for having a wonderfully helpful site.

I hear you, plus its safer because the first time we took it out to a state forest he got lost on the trails and was gone for 2hrs, thankfully another person that I was talking to there went out and found him and brought him back. He was having so much fun he didn't realize how long he was gone and that he was running on fumes and having me trying to figure out to explain to my wife how I lost our son huh. So now i'm looking for something cheap that I can get running so we can ride together.

Could only be one choice as I see it.. a kx500 of course..
Must be a guarantee for not losing the son in the forest!

funny you should mention that I almost had a early 90's kx 500 I found one on craigslist awhile back that was going for $500 but it sold a few minutes before I called. It would sure be fun to have, I also have seen a few mid  80's for sale. How much difference is their between these years on the kx 500's ? and are parts hard to find for these?

man i got 3 boys and i dream about losing them in the forest somtimes(only when there bad and dont listen)only joking..sometimes..?.i am not to sure bout the earlier models as mine is a 2010 monster energy kx 500afx (2009 kx250f frame) and has a brand new 2004 motor in it,but i am led to believe that 89 onwards and my 04 model, just about everything is interchangable, and parts are not to much of a hassle to source..good luck.keepn it green down under dude.
