Jetting for 4500ft.
utahriding:
I have weaved through the other forums, and still need help with my jetting problem.
I have a 88 kx500 with a pro circuit pipe, stock valves, and a aftermarket fly wheel if it helps.
I have tried 50,55,58 pilot jets and bike still will not idle, it dies a soon as you let off the throttle.starts great runs great just wont idle. any help would be great.

I`m also iUtah and the same thing happens with my bike.
AllI can say is keep your hand on the bars or let it die.
If you get it figured out please let me know how you got her to run.
I have a 55 P 168 M N82N needle on the top a turn and a half on the air screw.
Friar-Tuck:
Hey guys,
I'm at 3500' and ride up to 6000. I'll run either a 55 pilot spring /fall and 52 summer, 168 main and n82m 2nd clip #7 slide, A.S. depends on the weather (1 to 2 turns out)
Something you may consider is the wear on the carb body. I had gotten a 38 PJ for my CR and pulled my hair out as I could not get it to Idle either.
Replaced every part possible and ended up spending as much as a new replacement(Arghhh..)
Ended up being the body of the carb was allowing air around the slide. Once that's worn there's no proven repair. The only thing I could think of to remedy the problem was to have the slide moly or ceramic coated as that would build up the worn areas in the slide. The carb Body would still be worn / scratched.
Unfortunately, that may not be enough for the worn area and too much for the rest of the slide. (I don't have the sheckles to give it a try, so at best it's just a theory...)
What does you all's slide look like for wear? Is the chrome worn off the slide where it rides in the carb body? If so, wiggle the slide in the carb, there should not be very much play in there.
The only other place fuel can sneak in is the little "barrel" on the choke.

I gotta admit, If it don`t idle that is the least of my worries.
If my hands ain`t on the bars and ready ta hold on for dear life I`ll kick her over when I have got my breath.
I threw a set of v-force reeds on her today on pissed of the old folks nearby screamin up and down the street.
BIG differance.
Next up is a set of seal on the forks.
Thanks for the insight thou Tuck ol Boy.
I want as new PWK but that will have ta wait til I`m rich.
I had that home made dail a jet on and don`t have a clue what else was done to that carb.
Friar-Tuck:
Hey Crazy,
Glad to hear the bike is running better. I guess persistence pays off..
Enjoy The Ride,
