skippyhenry:
need help with my timing, its been a bugger to start since i had the motor rebuilt. Ive had the electrics replaced, new magneto, stator rewound, its getting spark, back fires a lot and then starts but wont idle. Reeds are good, carburator is new, so what I did is ran a timing light to check timing it should be at about 7 deg but is firing at 90 deg, half way up the bloody barrell is that premature or what  :? oh its a k500 1989 what can i do to get it back to 7 deg thanks

bob larry:
Get the manual out and go through the timing proceedure....

maddoggy:
are you sure that the key was installed when the flywheel was put on the shaft? with timing that far off, i cant think of anything else it could be. pull the flywheel and verify that the key is in place and that it is not sheared from an initial backfire.

Friar-Tuck:
I'm sorry I don't know how to put everything in order  :|
You should find what you need here:

allan1353:
To me it sounds like a sheared key as maddoggy pointed out.
