Frame weight?

How much does the KX500 steel frame weigh?  How much does the KX500AF frame weigh?  Just curious how much of a savings there is.  Also, is there a signifcant difference between the frame weight of a steel frame CR250 vs an aluminum frame CR250.  It doesn't have to be CR250s, it could be any bike.  Just trying to see if there is a common weight savings across the board.

Weight difference is a few pounds (at most) on a complete bike for Steal vs. Aluminum of the same size motor etc.  My '06 YZ250 was 216 pounds, and the K5 is 220.462 lbs.

  As far as I'm concerned the benefit of going with Aluminum is geometry.

  You'd think so, but the numbers I posted are from both the YZ250 & the KX500 manuals.  That's comes to just under a 4 1/2 pound difference, even with my bad math ;-)

There is a big difference in the aluminum vs. the steel frame weight. The steel K5 frame weighs 19 lbs 7 ozs and the KX450f frame weighs 24 lbs 11 ozs. I weighed them with the same scale 30 seconds apart. There is no typo or mistake, the steel frame is lighter. The KX500AF is 5 lbs lighter than the KX450f. My AF frames are about 1 lbs lighter than the KX450F and probably most other KX500AF's. There you are and there you have it.
