tight clutch
tschisi:
Hi!
The clutch of my 1990 k5 is very tight.
The lever nearly can?t be pulled with two fingers.
I replaced the bowden cable and inspected the springs and other clutch components, but only minor enhancement.
I alredy thought about leaving three springs but i guess that?s not a solution...
What can i do?
thx
KXcam22:
If everything else looks good then your only options may be to extend the clutch arm by 10mm (I did that, worthy mod) or make your hands stronger. Removing springs will only make you clutch slip. Sorry wish there was another way. I rerouted my cluch cable to remove much of the bend but I don't think it helped all that much. Keep the cable well lubed. My 92 had a better pull than my new 450. Lubricate the cable with silicone spray?
Or teflon spray?
Dutch-K5 Fan:
Teflon isn't stickie, so I'll would use that. Or WD40.
And do you have a crf?? Use the clutch lever and brakit to test the feel.
I use a cr combo on my K5.

Sounds good, i think i try another lever.
When i have a lever with less travel (which is the only way to make it more smooth-running?) or an extended clutch arm, doesn?t the fading become a problem?
If it does i would look for a lever with quick adjustment...
