The state of California offers so much outdoor activity, others who live here would likely agree.  Mountains, single track, jeep roads, desert, sand, motocross tracks (i have never been on one and probably never will).  I ride year round even in the 100 degree summer - never bothered by heat.  I was born and raised in Western Washington.  Lots of great riding up there, but it is very MUDDY.  Moved to Central California near Bakersfield, about 100 miles north of Los Angeles 11 years ago for a job.  Love the climate and the riding trails.  Now, the politics and state income tax are for another discussion.    ted

Barry, you are more than welcome to come up and ride with us.  The trails are just super!  We usually do 2-3 rides each month.  Would love to ride everyday, but that thing called WORK gets in the way.    ted

One of my sisters lives in Visalia. I grew up in Paso Robles. I've been in Las Vegas for about 10 years now. Leaving Kalifornia was one of my better decisions because of the politics and taxes. I usually visit my good buddy in Bakersfield about once a year for the annual Thanksgiving ride! He works for AERA and is or was a supervisor for the co-generation units. He's an old flat tracker that ran a "Blue Plate" back in the day. My parents are still in Paso and my other sister lives in Nipomo.

kxpegger, I live in Visalia and don't know any riding areas in or near Visalia.  Most of the riding I do is just east of Bakersfield starting out just before you get to the canyon.  The pictures above are near Lake Isabella.  Wonderful place to ride.   ted

my other sister lives in Nipomo.

Got a great place in Nipomo and lived there for a year.  Didn't work out, but miss that area.

Ted, ever ride the Piutes?  Is any of that open yet?

Piutes is between Jawbone and Bodefish.  I think the current closure is through May 1, 2010.  Had planned to ride it the month before it all burned.  Rescheduled, and missed my chance.

Do a search in ThumperTalk.com for "Piutes"

Yeah I think I have ridden there, but came at it from south of Isabella....not quite sure though.  Taking the kids out Sunday, ttr125, ttr110, and, yes I will take the k5 as I want to try out my new home made reed spacer and a slight change.  California City to Ransburg for a nice lunch and ride.  I will have to refuel at that little town near Randsburg.

That's funny.  We have a TTR-125R too.  Kids have all started on it and the last one just moved up to a second KDX220R.

Your garage must look just like mine!

I am going to try and list all my bikes that I have had.  I do have pics of my very first and second one.   Will post them one day if I can find them because they are prints from the 70's - will take a little work.

1970's  Some type of minibike (think it had a lawn mower engine in it)
1970's  XR 75 (or 80) I can't remember     Gave it away
1980's  YZ 250   Probably scrapped it after I rode the life completely out of it
2004    KX 250           Sold
2004    CRF 230          Sold
2004    KFX 50  quad   Sold  Bought it for my 3 yo son at the time - too young for it
2004    XR 50             Sold
2006    WR 450           Sold
2007    TTR 230          Sold
2007    TTR 125
2007    TTR 90
2007    TTR 90
2008    TTR 110
2004    KDX 200          NEVER SELL
2000    KX 500            NEVER SELL
AND     Next will likely be a KTM 300 or a YZ 250

I grew up in California City. My grandparents are still there. I wish I lived there now. The dirtbike scene has really taken off... it was nothing like it is now in the 1980s when I was still there. Somebody must have realized the opportunity for revenue through the dirtbike industry cause it seems the city thrives on it now.
