Clutch Cover Options?

<< < (2/6) > >>

DoldGuy:
How many members would be interested in a 2 piece clutch cover something like Doordie has posted? If there is enough interested we might be able to have someone invest the time to Design/Fabricate a setup for such. What would be a fair cost for such a service?

I would like the ability to replace the removable cover along with full access to the clutch & possibility of running an Auto Clutch.

Doug,
I have toyed with the idea of doing one but the price seems to get in the way. I think the most cost efective way to do it would be to make an adapter ring to fit a current prodiction cover, something like the 450 or 250. Everyone makes a cover just pick one. I would then weld the ring on. All I need is 3 more of me!

A 2 pc clutch cover was only designed to allow a quick "between motos" clutch drive plate swap on race bikes.
I've commented before going through all the work of custom fabricating a quick access 2 pc clutch cover for the KX500 is simply cost prohibitive, and not necessary for most people. 85cc, 125cc  and some 250cc race bikes's see a high level of clutch abuse therefore on those bikes now a quick access 2 pc cover is a justifyable item (that's why the factory has them stock). How often do you find yourself beating the pi$$ and feathering a KX500 clutch ? Only if you are an absolute lunitic !  It's not a lot of extra time involved to just remove the complete clutch cover on a KX500 IMO.

This would be the real value of the removable cover. The ability to quickly tune and service the auto clutch would be huge for racers.
