  Qwuick Enuff,
Welcome to the forum,  That sounds like quite a handful for getting back into riding!
Like I've told other new big bore riders, Throttle Control!! :-D

Welcome!  Fun bike to ride.  I will steal a quote from here  "you either learn throttle control or you learn first aid"    Wow, I waited until I was on my 9th bike and 42 yo before I finally bought my K5.  What I especially noticed about going to the 500 from other bikes is how fast it accelerates.  On switch backs I would come out of a corner and roll on the throttle just like I would on the less powerful bikes and I would be at the next corner much sooner than I wanted/expected and at a higher speed.  Didn't take too long to adapt to that.   B.O.
If some is good, and more is better, then too much is JUST RIGHT!  B.O.

Yes the bike is a hand full ! The bike I have came from kaws off this board . I like it a lot and I am in the process of putting a 1992 rear fender on it and another 1992 front fender on it . I like the front better cause it is broader and like the rear cause it looks better to me. I will post pics when i get past post 10!! I put a new Maxxis IT rear tire on back 120/110/18 and man it grips. I guess i never new how much the old rear tire was forgiving.  Anyone here do the 250 rear fender?

Welcome to the list! I also didnt ride for many years. Now I try to ride or race every weekend. Just be cool with the throttle at first and work your way back to speed. One problem you will run into is traction. That back wheel will spin, spin, spin, spin and spin. Still a blast though.

the rear fender mod in the stickys is a good one, its real esay, a sharp 1/2 or 1/4 inch wood chisel works wonders.
i think it took me about 15 minutes.
