 LOL
:?

I am in no way knocking the mighty KX500.
It is a powerful fast machine that demands and deserves respect.
However, all other things equal, out of its element drag racing a zx14! -Just as a zx14 would be hill climbing , dune riding, or in the Baja1000 LOL.

My black zx14 in my avitar is the same bike as the second one he raced, the blue bike.
Its much quicker than any KX500 or CR500 I have ever owned. Including the one that made 73 RWHP!

The  modded CR500 DirtBike magazine drag raced back in 1987 ran 12 seconds in the 1/4 mile, which is very respectable.
center of gravity, close ratio trans, and wheelbase hurt the CR500.
It would need to be lowered, stretched and wr trans, in the 1/8th mile, and 30-40 more HP for 1/4 mile

The KX 500 has the power to weight ratio pretty close to sport bikes if its a built one.
A zx14 will run sub 6 seconds 1/8 th mile right out of the box, if the he can ride. A good KX500 set up proper might be close in 1/8th mile.

We won't even consider 1/4 mile numbers as the zx14 is in a whole other league then, where it will run sub 10 second 1/4 mile STOCK.
9.67 is the quickest a zx14 has ran completely stock.

That said I have seen many fast bikes beaten by slow bikes to rider ability, traction, and bike prep.

kudo's to kawi for producing both fine, fast  machines, the zx14, and the KX500 alike
