88 kx 250 clutch pushrod
« on: January 06, 2009, 05:50:54 PM »
hey guys, i was wondering if anyone knew if anybody was still producing the clutch pushrod for an 88 kx250? dealer says they cant get it, and mine has been ground down by the previous owner. yea i know ground down...kinda important because it wont fully let my clutch out and stall my motor, also makes the shifts pretty hard.

 Camp,
Be sure to call first! The links are for the same store..
Hang On, I'll  check to see if that part # fits another year bike.
You might try to call Service Honda, (AJ's Shop)
    Mailorder Parts:
1.800.828.5498      Ask For Pooh (as in Pooh Bear)       or e-mail <pooh@servicehonda.com>
   Fax 219 931 5557
Explain your situation:  Trying to cross reference the clutch  release rod # 13116.

I was just thinking... Would it be possible to put a small shim between the cap on the other end of the rod and the rod itself to add a few mm's?
If I remember right, the cap slides on about 3/4".  a few small washers between the ball and the cap might be just enough... Just thinking out loud here..
I'll keep looking for the part cross reference.

 Camp,
The part #'s        13116        SKU: 13116-1124
                         ROD-PUSH,L=205    1    $12.93  For a 1990 KX500 is the same as your '88 KX250

The KX 250's appear to have went to a 205cm rod(PN 13116-1125), Maybe thats why the Prev Owner ground it down.
  1990 KX500 did not (PN 13116-1124)

The  1990 kx 500 part is the same as the '88 250, Part #13116 Or Babbit SKU# 13116-1124

The only reason I used the babbit site is they had the microfische for all the Kawasaki's.
Your local guy should be able to get the 1990 kx 500 part and or verify the matching PN#

The only other thing I can think of is if the Clutch Release Arm (In the Case that hooks up to the clutch cable) is not fully seated.  I replaced the bearings and seal and tried to
add another wider washer to keep junk out  under the top of the arm and it would not let the clutch release either. I took the Extra rubber washer  off and it dropped down the thickness of the rubber and poof! works like a champ..

Yes the part # is the same from 1990 kx500 and the 1988 kx250.
   Part #13116  Or   Babbit SKU# 13116-1124
Order a clutch push rod for a 1990 kx 500

Next time you go to your local shop ask the parts guy to look up the pushrod for your 1988 kx 250,  write down the part #
Then ask him to look up a clutch pushrod for a 1990 kx 500    write it down.     (same part #)

Kx 500 is same # 89 to 04  never changed (to best of my knowledge)

Tuck,

Do you have a cross reference for the part #s search (plug in a Part # and it tells you what model it fits)?? A friend use to work at the Kaw Dealership, and they had this feature, in addition to Team Green recommended specs??? Also in regards to the clutch, be sure you plates are in decent shape, otherwise this will cause issues with the Rods length. If none of the sources above can get you the push rod, PM me, I believe I have an 88 250 motor at the shop.

 Sorry D,
I open up two windows from a parts supplier and compare in "notepad" or on a notepad.
It doesn't usually take too awful long.  I have heard the dealerships do have a part # cross reference.
That would be nice.
