Pro Circuit vs FMF
« on: March 14, 2008, 05:17:02 AM »
I am looking at a Pro Circuit Platinum or a FMF SST pipe for my 2004 KX250.  Any thoughts on which is the better pipe?  I ride mostly motocross and GP's, 40+ Int.

I think you need the SST silencer as well as the pipe to make them fit.

I'm not sure what you mean Jeeks. I run a PC pipe with FMF shorty silencer on my 250. It is set-up very well. In fact, it runs so well that I am not even considering any mods. PC lenghthens powerband and may require needle adjustment from stock. The shorty silencer is a noticeable improvement to power also over stock.
If I was to do anything different, it would be a hydraulic clutch. Alot of control is in the clutch and if I were into any endurance type of racing, I would alter anything causing arm pump.

The Turbine 2 can only be used with the SST or something like that.  I don;t think you can run a SST pipe with anything else but a FMF Turbine 2 silencer.  May be only certain models?  It turned me off to the FMF with one of my 2000's.

I ride MX mainly and it's a PC works for me. Perfect combo with the V-Force and reed spacer combo. Run ignition at full advance mark. I run straight C12 fuel which requires slightly leaner jets than pump gas.

I run all FMF on my KX250 (solely because that is what the bike came with when I bought it used)

I've ridden my buddys 2000 kx250 with the PC platinum and a shorty and it had more top end then mine did.

SO if you are looking for more bottom end go with the FMF, if you are looking for more top end (like I am) go with the Pro Circuit.
Stupidity should hurt!

If you are looking for top end then I would say a Fatty with a Shorty. I run the Fatty and a Turbine Core 2 on my 00 250 and it has way more power and top end then the PC with the stock silencer.

I've heard through the grapevine that PC usually fits the bikes better as far as exhaust mounts and pipe to silencer alignment. I wouldnt know personally since I have only used FMF so far. Just letting you know what I have heard. I do plan on getting a PC pipe and silencer when I get around to replacing the FMF on my K5 though.

You will be switching back real fast once you go to the PC system after running the FMF.

Definitely go wit PC pipe and R-304 Silencer runs like a dream :-D I had Fmf Fatty and Shorty all i found was it looked good with my 02 Kx250 other then that the Fmf didn't feel as responsive as the PC.
It's all up to rider choice 8-)

Any good reason why?
