Both! Do a few heat cycles idling. Then ride it easy for a couple cycles. It will be ready to rip then, but will still need a few riding hours to be perfect.
Make sure slide closes all the way before starting. When seating rings, they can heat up and run without spark. If you're slide is open any, there is no way to control throttle or to kill the engine. (Words of experience)

awsome guys now whats the slide??? i spent 2 on a piston and prolly 80 on machining the jug not to mention the gasket set and plugs about 70.. i would hate to blow it up again :x but im ready to haul some ass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hillclimb#42:
The carb slide is what you see going up and down in the barrel of the carb when you are hitting the throttle. Make sure your idle screw is not bottomed out and there is just a little slack in the throttle cable, also. Sometimes guys will turn their idle screw all the way in trying to keep it running. Then they might tighten the cable to make it idle. That will open the slide too much and may blow it up during break in.
