This is a link showing how to repack a silencer.  It is showing the repacking of a 2 stroke silencer but it should be similar to yours.  This will at least give you an idea of how it comes apart, or how most of them come apart, for the future.

Hope this helps.

I just found this link.  It shows the repacking of a 4 stroke silencer.  THis would probably help you out a little better.  THis silencer looks as though the pipe does come out but it does not look like the guy doing the repacking took the pipe out of the silencer.

now that i completed the task. does this seem a little much for a spark arrestor? this seems extremly restricting. i need to find a differnt silencer.

I don't have a spark arrester on my bike and have not dealt with them at all so i can't say if what you have is too much.

Is there a reason you need a spark arrester in your system.  I know sometimes trails require you to have certain add-ons in order for you to ride them.  From what i know a simple resistor spark plug will keep sparks from flying.  I am not to keen on this topic though so don't quote me.

Newer silencers are nice but they cost money.  I have an FMF Fatty on my bike.  I like it.  It comes apart real easy.

Hope this helps.
