had crank bearing go out on me during a ride in central oregon. " while ridding just heard a loud sound immedatly stopped and left the bike. then walked back to truck.  2 miles long way to walk in riding boots" got home and took cylinder head off and yep crank has play up and down and thats bad.
soo heres pics of what i took off...
ill post pics with the improvements of my work later on. heres a few.
pics arnt in order so just bear with me.

So, you did put in a new piston right? When I looked at the first set of Pics, my first thought was that you should have rebuilt it a long time ago based on the blow by. After doing all the work to the bottom end I wouldn't risk a used piston that may be cracked.

By the way I like your Frame color.

my machinist said the piston was still good, put on new rings, new bottom end, bearings and rod,  not too bad i thought it was going to be an expensive fix but only 180 for parts complete gasket kit and bearings, rod, crank, and 150 for labor. and a fast turn around. i was stoked.

and i dont remeber the paint code but its BMW metallic black.

I guess I'm kind of anal about those things, I replace pistons in the race bikes at least every month, they still look good, but I don't like failures. Playbikes get a new piston 1-2 times a year depending the amount of riding.

You did get by pretty cheaply $330 and a new bottom end, did you replace bearings and seals?

Pistons can develop stress cracks and dissinegrate into your motor.  The crank will push the broken bits through your cases.

Been there, done that.

took 80 days to complete the rebuild from a complete tear down, painted frame, re-greased everything, new suspension linkage and bearings, new chain guide and rub plate, grips,06 front fender,chain, and top and bottom-rebuild. not too shabby. just waiting on the 02 graphics.

That was a scary piston to re-install buddy. I have pulled bikes apart that haven't been rebuilt in 5 years an they didn't look that carboned. What kind of 2 stroke oil are you using? Its way cheaper to put a piston in it than to have a piston failure like was mentioned. I painted a frame once. It was all beat up on the first ride. They have many colors of powder coat that is way more durable and was less than $200. I powder coated my frame black (standard powder coat color) and not so much as a knick in a year.
 I had one of those clutch covers too. It looks sweet, but be careful with oil level check screw. It strips out pretty easy. What kind of clutch basket is that, Boysen? That looks pretty sweet too.
