Hello group,

I live in Edmond, OK.  I ride a KDX200.  My 10 year old is on a KX65, 8 year old rides a KTM50 and my 6 year old rides a CRF50.  I used to ride 20 yeras ago and thought that my riding days were over, but my kids all wanted dirt bikes and drug me back into it.

Just in our neighborhood there are 15 riders, counting all the kids and dads that ride, that we go riding with.  Right now we ride mostly at Draper.

Welcome to the site. Sounds like you got your hands full with all those boys/girls riding bikes.

JC......
Ah....the old Lake Draper riding area.  Free, lots of fun,  known for broken bikes and broken bones.  The new Lake Draper riding area.  10 dollars a day to ride or the 60 dollar "does not matter when you buy 1 year permit".  The permit starts April 1st.  If you buy it in Oct. it's a 1 year permit good for 6 months.  I think that's a rip-off.  Should be good for a year from the date you buy it, just like the fishing permit.  Draper is an Ok place to ride and it's very safe.  It has areas that are motorbike only.  Bikes can ride on the quad track but no quads on the motorcycle tracks.  All the tracks are directional (one-way).  NO 3 WHEELERS!  That cuts out 5 of my riding buddies.  The old Draper was shut down to build a golf course.  The erosion from the bikes filling the lake with silt is the reason they gave the public for shutting it down.  Then they came up with the golf course idea.  I think it was the other way around "lets build a golf course, now how do we get rid of the bikes".  Now no silt runs into the lake,  just fungicide,  herbicide,  and fertilizer.  I guess the silt was killing the fish.  The new Draper is built below the water shed of the lake.  So to recap.  Draper (It's now called Cross Timbers) is a good place to ride IF:  Your white,  Christian,  have kids,  don't want to ride to fast,  don't want to ride if it's muddy,  don't you dare get off the trail,  no beer, and call before you come out because we might be closed for no telling what reason.  Oh yea, you must leave before dusk, and the signs say that does not mean strapping your bikes down at dusk,  that means gone.  With all that said I still like to ride Cross Timbers on my KLR650 2 or 3 times a year.  I have not ridden there in over a year so things may have changed.
JC if you would like to check out N.E.36 and Sooner for a ride give me a P.M.  I would suggest we ride together so you can get a lay of the land and make a decision if you should take the kids out there.  The thing I like about 36th, it's only 5 miles from my house.  With you in Edmond that's only 10 to 15 miles for you.  Cross Timbers seams so far with it being on the South side of the city.  We park under the 36th street bridge on the East side of the river, first pic.
Second pic is back in March of '03 when we parked at the 23rd street bridge before everyone started riding this area.  I don't think you could have a campfire at Cross Timbers.

NO 3 WHEELERS!

How do they pull that off? It's not illegal to own one, just the manufacture or sale of new ones. What nonsense. I grew up on three wheels. It is a shame the government has to protect the lowest common denominator. Oh yeah...Welcome to the site JC!! :-D
