Seat cover question-89 250
« on: September 24, 2007, 02:09:04 PM »
Hey all,

New member here.  I have an 89 KX250 project that I've been working on.  I've been searching for a decent seat cover and graphics but haven't found anything besides the travelcade(I think) blue cover.  Which I don't want that god ugly neon blue that it has now.  I think I could deal with the darker blue but I was hoping to find something either black, or black and green.  Of course I haven't seen the one's on ebay in a while but I'm suspect of their quality anyway.   I was wondering since the 89 250 has the same frame/body as the 500 if a seat cover for a 500 would work? It seems I have limited options going strictly off of my model/year alone.

As for graphics it's not a must have by any means but if I could just find something simple and cheap that would be great.  I don't need the whole Monster, Metal Mulisha, etc junk.  I guess I could probably get something off of the generic Kawasaki packs.  Would 500 graphics work here as well.  Again this isn't a must have but more I'd like to know.  I think I'm just going the generic KX kit and throwing a couple stickers on the shroud to spruce it up a bit.

500 seat cover is a direct fit. 500 graphics will fit the shrouds, but may need slight trimming on the tank graphics due to the smaller capacity 250 tank.

Thanks for the help guys I appreciate it.

I ordered myself a new seat cover tonight as well as other things like grips, new levers, etc.  I think the graphics are going to wait.  The plastic on there now has seen better days.  It's not cracked but it's faded some and has some scratches.  I may order a plastic kit and graphics this winter and just keep em in the box if I ever decide to sell it.

Overall I'm pretty happy with the bike.  I put a new bottom end in the bike as well as a decent clutch basket I found on ebay in her and she's mechanically fit now.  Of course I needed new chain, sprockets and tires, but lets be realistic it's a dirt bike those are parts that need to be changed periodically, no matter what you ride, so I can deal with those costs.  For being nearly 20 years old the bike has a real nice motor and I can live with the conventional forks as a trail rider.  Maybe one day I'll try MX some and find a pre-90 race or two to take it too.
