1 1/8 twinwalls on a 2001 KX 125??
« on: August 08, 2007, 12:39:47 AM »
Anyone done it with the factory mounts?  I got a good deal on some asv levers and a twinwall bar but i really wasn't planing on replacing the tripple trees.  I was courious if anyone had drilled out that extra 2/8'ths of an inch on a factory tripple tree????

Thanks Nick

Look in for sale post. Hughes has clamps and pads for you for 50 bucks. They are nice bars, because they don't bend after a spill. That leaves the impact for the clamps and bushings. May leave you stranded, if they break. Tag Metal makes good, strong after-market bars, around 150, that use stock clamps. Bark-busters are also nice, they save the bars, levers and fingers. They make 'em for pro-tapers or stock.

Is your factory mounts rubber or solid? I they use the rubber cones I got a set of Pro Taper big bar mounts with two pads for sale. You dont' want to mdifiy the factory mount to fit the big bars that would be asking for trouble.

no the factory tripple tree is metal and the clamps are molded in.  I was thinking about just drilling them out the extra 2/8ths, the metal is pretty meaty i think it could handle it.  If not i will looking in to getting a newer top tripple tree.
