Plastic question
« on: April 23, 2007, 10:18:25 AM »
Hey guys,
I probably already know the answer to this but I'm going to ask anyway.  Does anyone know of any company of anybody that makes custom colored plastics or does anyone know how to go about doing that?  I'm trying to some how create a set of black plastics for my 1990 KX 250.  Any help that you guys could provide would be awesome!  I posted a pic of my bike with some old plastics I just painted to kind of see what it might look like.  Thanks guys!

acerbis, ufo,  maier

ufo makes a kit for your bike look at motosport.com or rockymountainatvmc.com

keep it stock it looks so much better....

oh btw..your seat looks like trash you can see where you spray painted your green tank, and rear fender get rid of all that blue line!!!!
i'd keep it in your garage until its fixed???  what are you going to do about your spray painted fuel tank, after you buy all new plastics???

Age old question! Black kicks ass! Go for the BLACK-OUT! I believe they all make black, purple and white, but noone stocks the colors. Try Motosport Outlet. They distribute alot of manufacturer's plastics. Be ready for a lengthy Back order, but they can get it. Let us know how it goes. I would also like some black on the k5. Green is cool too, but I like to notice my bike in a crowd, if you know what I mean.
Check out graphic packages also. My 96 250 is almost blacked out with Skin Industries Vinyl. It is a heavy mil. package that covered shrouds and had a black gripper seat cover. I used black fork guards. You can get black backgrounds for number plates and any front fender will bolt on. They also have rear fender decals that cover 99% of it, and come with a series of "sponsors" and after-market mfg's.

You guys need to chill.

Black and Green is definately my favorite color combo out there (Yellow/Black a close second).  Nothing wrong with all black, just try and keep some green so everyone knows its a KX

Here is my CR500 in all black with custom 2 layer powdercoat...

Ok, wizzy214, first off, I'm very aware that the picture of the black plastic looks like crap, if you would re-read my post you would see that I mentioned that I spray painted some old plastics and a seat that I had to see what it looks like.  The tank is not spray painted black, I cut pieces of vinyl out of stock background sheets to cover the majority of the visible area.  The rear fender is also not spray painted, it's a 2007 RM-Z 450 black rear fender that i adapted to my sub-frame.  Anyway, I've decided to postpone the "black out" because it's going to be an involved process that I'm going to save for a special project in the future.  I've included a picture of what my bike currently looks like since you feel I need to "keep it in the garage".  It's amazing what a little hard work and ingenuity can do to a 17 year old dirt bike isn't it?

man! that's a sweet looking bike, i own a 250 '99, it has black acerbis plastics, and the last owner repainted the frame with the classic kawi green, so anyone who knows a little about bikes can tell you that's a kawasaki.
