01 KX250
« on: March 22, 2007, 08:52:06 AM »
Guys, picking up a 01 KX250 in parts and need some stuff for it.

Are the 05/01 rear wheel/shock/chain guide the same?

What other forks will fit the 01 250 chassis? 250F/450F? RM 250 forks too?? Aren't the RM/KX clones?

Stoked to get this new machine!

Check www.buykawasaki.com to match up part numbers from various years as well as aftermarket sites.

I don't think any of the 2005 models have any of those parts the same as the 2001 model.  I know the rear wheel won't fit, as well as the forks.

The 2002 forks won't fit into the earlier clamps due to their larger size.

The RM and KX are not clones.  You may want to read up on that some more.  The Suzuki RMZ-250 was made by Kawasaki in 2004 and 2005.  They had a technology sharing agreement for a few years.  That was just on the four stroke, not the 250 two strokes.

Yeah thats where I was wrong, thanks for the heads up.

99-01 are the same, you might check the couple of years previous too on the Kaw site.

and ebay has a place Keepitroostin that parts out bikes all the time. almost always look in good shape, and their feedback is good.

Shameless plug, I have a Clarke 3.3 gal. that's black to trade for a stock 2.25 gal tank. So if you'd like a bigger tank and have a stocker, I'll gladly trade staight across. mines in great cond. cept for a few scratches.

3.1, 3.2, 3.7? Wondering how low it sits over the motor? May be an issue when it comes to the 500 sparkplug clearing it.

its been cleaned, and dried so its ready for modification. I read about the clearence thing. and If I had done this conversion, I was going to have it cut and plastiwelded so it would fit. the extra tank on the top would be more than welcomed with that thirsty 500 motor in there.
