2001 KX 500 Top Triple Clamp Options??
hughes:
Alan, You need to measure the end of the fork that slides up into the clamps. Remmber I have the old school forks not the inverted kind.
Rockymountainatv/mx.com has top clamps for 2003 and newer kx250's for $99.99. This top clamp has adjusted forward and aft setting and you can get different bar risers mounts for only 30.00 ranging from 35mm to 55mm of height. I may order a set and then measure my forks and then measure the inside dia. of the new clamp and then have collars made. But I need to recover from the two hundred dollars I just spent on springs.

Ok now that we are on the same page! If you wanted to run smaller dia forks in a newer triple clamp it would be very easy to turn spacers an then slit them so they would grip the fork when you tightened up the triple tree clamps.

That's what I want to do. I have a hard time typing out what I want to say. I'm buying one of those clamps from rockymoutain here shortly after I recover from the springs I just bought. Allen if you are any good :-D with that machine shop I might put you to work :-D

No problem it would be a very simple project!

Do you have material? Looks like these collars would need to be made out of solid alumn stock that is round in shape.
