6061 T6 is 1/2 hard aircraft Aluminum and I have a bunch of it around! It is the stuff everyone calls Billet this and billet that drives me nuts is simply an Aluminum extrusion and it comes in all kinds of sizes, from plate to rod and block. It is wonderful stuff to work with right up their with red brass silicon bronze and delron!

Measured my forks they are 43mm. Got that machine shop running? Maybe next month or so I can buy a top clamp and the project must begin.

It will be a month to 6 weeks till I get my lathe and mill moved and fired up!

does any know if the 04 triple clamps for a 250 will fit on a k5. I was thinking of replacing the whole set. I bought a set of forks off a 04 250 (mine are scratched down one of the tubes), and was thinking of buying brp clamps for that model 250, with the taper bars.

I have been told that the stem bolt is smaller in dia. I do not have any personal experience  trying to make it work. I am sure there is a way to retro it. I would be really nice if we can work it out and write it up!
