to idle or not?
edkx:
Do you guys set your bikes to idle or not?I've read lately on different sites that a 2-stroke racing machine shouldn't idle, that throttle response will be better without it.I can't try it out right now because of the snow.

I think throttle response is a factor of jetting. I like my bikes to idle
because I stall a lot less when they do and thats a good thing when kicking a 500. I think 2-strokes may starve a little for oil on long downhills if the idle is too low also.

My 04' KX5 idles just fine. It's mostly all stock, just a pipe, and silencer...

I set mine to idle due to the woods riding. A pro motocross rider has no need for idle. He's in the peak rpm.

I am a trail rider and I like my bikes to idle. My 04 KX500 didnt idle when I picked it up new from the dealer. But after a pilot jet change and a little adusting it now idles great. It runs great with no lack of throttle response. I could lean it a little more for power, but why risk reliability, when it outruns everything around and doesnt foul plugs.
