Hi everyone.I am longtime lurker of Your site(circa 2008).My ride is '97 KX 500.Now i got some problem with a bike.Engine is about 45hours from a good makover .You know;piston, rod, bearings and seal cases and new OEM cylinder. last time i fired bike the engine run for about couple of minutes, then stall. Was trying to restart but no go,only backfires. Its winter time here and i store my bike in a cold garage.About -4 fahrenheit(-20celsius)here outdoor.wet plug, got spark.I use klotz supertechniplate for premix.they got 20% of castor.do you think the gas separated from oil and clog jets in carbearator?sorry for my language.cheers!

Welcome zawodzie, I'm glad that you decided to register. Your English is perfect by the way. I would recommend cleaning the carb, dumping the fuel for some fresh stuff, and changing the plug. I live in a milder climate so I'm not sure what cold does to premix, but it never hurts to eliminate all the easy stuff first. Let us know if that helps and if you get a chance, post some pictures. Here's an easy guide using Photobucket.

I know this is an old topic, but I expect you still visit the site as you've been doing so for many years. So Hiya! I'm an Englishman living in Mexico and I although I only got my KX500 about 3 months ago I have run 2 strokes on castor oil based oils for well over 30 years.
With most manufacturers of these oils they recommend that it is stored above 0 degrees Celsius, and basically your oil, even in your premix, is subject to temperatures well below this. I would recommend that you store the oil in a safe place in your house and mix it before you ride.
All the best,
Jonnie
