Welcome to the site jeffro!  No need to apologize, we were all new here at one time. On my 03 conversion, I used a 2004 KX500 shifter shaft, and a kx450f shifter. I'm not sure if the kx250f frame and the kx250 frame are different though. Can you post a pic of your shifter?  Here's a handy guide on how to post using photobucket.

Use a 94 or newer shift shaft... and a KX450F shift lever... any year... It will fit the 250f no problem.
I like the hammerhead shift levers because they come up to 20mm longer then stock and I can actually get my toe under it  :-o
The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.

Is the 10mm hammerhead lever any longer than the 94 k5 stock lever? Rocky mountain only has the 10mm
