Hello from the UK
« on: August 08, 2016, 09:32:05 PM »
Morning all,

Virtual drinks on me.  :-)

A long time ago I bought a non-running 1985 KX500B2 with the intention of converting it to SM trim (This was to replace the YZ465 SM project I'd completed and sold on). With one thing and another, moving and renovating houses, marriage, kids etc. the project stalled at about 90% completion. Anyway fast forward 11 years, 2 kids (and one in the oven) I've just finished the building work on house and had the workshop fitted out. I've now got space as I'm down to just one road bike (Ducati 900ss) so I'm about to start on the KX500 project again! I'll post a build thread in the SM and hopefully it won't be another decade before it's alive and ripping round the local roads.

Welcome Derek!  Looks like you've got the garage set up nicely for your project. The build thread was very interesting as well. I can't wait to see a video of the beast coming alive. Keep us posted.
Perhaps I have a dirt bike addiction?

Wait till you feel the power on the road with near perfect traction  8-)
It always amazes me when I take one of mine out just how brutal they are...
It shocks other bikers as well...
And you will get some slack jawed stares as well from some that actually know what you are riding  :-D
The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.
