2001 kx250 reed cage and cylinder differences from other years.
« on: February 26, 2016, 02:51:40 PM »
so ive been going through 2 kx 250's (a 99 and an 01) and found an important difference amogst the cylinders and the reed cage ports on the 2 are differnt width. the 01 with the casting 1938 stamped on the left side of the cyl by the reed port has a narrower cage than the earlier model cyl from the 99 with 1851 stampings. just a heads up, i tought i would start a thread since i see alot of people selling cyl that fit many years including the 99 and 01, which are most definitley different in the intake port width inside measurments where the reed cage goes in. i dont know how to post pics on here, but there is about a 10mm difference in width, the bolt pattern is identical though. not sure if its been discussed on kx riders, but i wanted to add some tech and contribute to a kick ass group.
