sleeved kx 250 cyl best piston type (forged or cast)
« on: January 20, 2016, 04:12:22 AM »
I have a 99 kx 250 that was sleeved by a previous owner, my question is which piston is best? I have always used wiseco pro lite double ring, or racers choice single rings, but i know they are designed for electrofusion bore. are there specific pistons that are designed for a sleeved cal or are the aftermarket wiseco pistons ok? I read something about different coatings on the pistons, but I'm not exactly which one would be the best? also, any difference in rings and do i need a special ring for the sleeved cylinder?

that's like asking which oil is best

there's several of us running forged Wossner pistons...I run them in my 500 and my '00 250...they are far superior over Wiseco...and they'll work in your sleeved jug.

you can check them out here...

there's a couple members on here that can and will set you up with what you need if you chose to go this route.
Excuse me, ma'am...but you've got extremely nice legs!!!...what time do they open???                                                                                                               https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8tCgN3aryQ

thanks for the quick reply, I kinda figured it was just a matter of preference. ive heard great thing about the wossner pistons.

is there really a difference between the "electrofusion" piston vs a piston designed for a steel sleeved application?

most piston manufacturers produce products that are compatible with all types of plating/coating these days...unless specifically noted...like chrome plating, which is rare these days.

check your messages too, I sent you a PM.

thank you sir, messaged received. I have 2 kx 250s, one is an 01 and the other is a 99. ill probably use a wossner in the 01 because i am going to get it replated when i do the top end, the 99 is a budget rebuild so I have a bike for a riding partner, so ill prob order a complete wiseco top/bottom end kit and then use the crank with the wossner in my 01 and the wiseco in the 99 budget build. my 99 has a bad crank, the 01 is good, so the 99 will get the leftovers. i have a deal on the wiseco stuff locally for 250$ for the complete engine rebuild kit NIB dealer closeout.

I think you need 10 posts 1st before you can add an avatar pic...or you can send a message to Danger4u2, or Motorrad...either one of them should be able to help if you still have problems.
