KX125 questions
« on: October 11, 2013, 11:56:46 PM »
Hi there.  I'm new to this site.

I need to know the years for these engines please. I tried using the search and it only gave me a range of years.  Its sorta helpful, but there apparently were some changes in the engines between them, as one of my engines has an exposed coolant passage between the exhaust and the powervalve! I was told they are 94 and 95.  The parts I ordered fit perfectly, except for a base gasket.

Somewhere between 94-98....
You can narrow it down by your cylinder number.
1720 FITS 94 KX125
1752 FITS 95 KX125
1794 FITS 96 KX125
1840 FITS 97 KX125
1852 FITS 98 KX125
The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.

Thanks.  Is there any way to "date" the cases?

Possibly but I don't have that info...
If you find a good source I'd be interested..

I was just looking at Rocky Mountain ATV's website, under OEM microfiche...  they have different part numbers listed for the 94 and 95 case halves.  I'm not sure how to upload photos on to here so you can see the coolant port I'm talking about, not lining up with the case.

This is that hole I was referring to.  I took it back apart, and placed the cylinder back on it for the sake of taking a photo.

I can't really tell anything from that photo.
Can you back farther away?

This isn't the actual case that I'm using.  Thats still mounted in the bike.  I just out those 2 together to demonstrate that they aren't compatible for some reason and need to know which year cases I have.  I do have both the cylinder for 94 and 95 (separate part numbers), and both seem to do this.

What is the 4 digit number on your cylinder?

Thank you for the photos. I noticed the engine #'s are much higher than mine.  006924 and 000735.

Also,  both of your cases have a hole that mine doesn't seem to have.  In the photos, your holding the case half with have the cut outs for the power valves, the right side case...  the one with the cut outs that look like a figure 8...  I noticed a coolant passage 'hole" forward and to the left of that "figure 8", near the engine mount...  mine doesn't have that passage.  This would be exactly where I have circled on the uploaded photo, actually.  :?
